How it works

About The Hourly Rate Calculator

The hourly rate is the annual salary divided by the hours paid across the year: contracted hours per week multiplied by paid weeks. Use 52 weeks when paid holiday is included in the salary.

The result is compared with the National Living Wage of £12.21 an hour for workers aged 21 and over, which applied from April 2025. Rates change every April, and lower rates apply to younger workers and apprentices.
